Meet the Ombudsman

pr-Aug-17-2020Dr. Marion Blair is the Ombudsman of Antigua and Barbuda, and has been since 1st September, 2016. She was appointed by resolution passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate. She holds the post until September 2024.

Dr. Blair had been a civil servant for 42 years. During her career, she was a teacher at the All Saints Secondary School from 1973 – 1975 and the Princess Margaret from 1978 – 1996. In that year, she was transferred to the Antigua & Barbuda National Archives as its Director and remained there until 2014.

In 1978, Dr. Blair successfully completed her Bachelors of Arts, with honours, from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, specializing in History:African, West Indian, European, North and South American.

She also attained a Diploma in Education from Mona Campus, U.W.I (1987), a Masters of Arts Degree (1991), and a Doctor of Philosophy in African Studies from the University of Birmingham (1996).  In 1998, she graduated from the University College London, England, with a Masters of Arts degree in Archives Administration and Records Management.

Dr. Blair retired from the Civil Service in 2014.
